Terms of Hire

How we charge

Vehicle hire works on a 24 hour basis – e.g. if you hire a vehicle at 8 a.m. it must be returned at 8 a.m. the following day, to avoid an additional charge.

Driving Permit

It is mandatory to obtain a Visitors Registration Certificate (driving permit), which allows you to drive while on the island.  These may be purchased from our representative on delivery of the rental,  at a cost of US$5 each.  The permit is valid for two months.

Age and Licence Requirements

Drivers must be over 25 and under 75 years old.  Each driver must be the holder of a valid driver’s licence for at least two years – this licence must be produced at the time of delivery of the vehicle and is also necessary for repeat client.  Special conditions apply to drivers under the age of 25 and drivers over 75 must produce a doctor’s certificate.

Extension of Hire

Requests for extension of the rental period, should be made 24 hours prior to the return date.  While we make every effort to allow extensions, they are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.

Cancellation Policy

Clients are asked to inform us as soon as they know that they need to cancel their reservation, as the reservation status will be changed to No Show and a charge will be incurred, if the client does not show up within 24 hours or contact us to change the delivery details.

Fuel Policy

Vehicles are delivered with ¼ tank of fuel (approximately US$15 – $25).  A full tank can be arranged at an additional charge.

Child Seats/GPS Units

Child/booster seats are available for hire – US $5 per day.  Maximum charge per rental US$70.

GPS Units are also available at US$4 per day. Maximum charge US$70.

Extra Drivers

There is an extra driver’s fee of US$2.50 per day, with a maximum charge of US$50 per driver.  The client’s spouse is exempt from the extra driver fee.

Insurance

Our vehicles are comprehensively insured except for a deductible of US $1,500 in the event of loss, accident or damage to the vehicles – regardless of fault.  An optional EXCESS WAIVER is available and recommended to cover this deductible.  If this Excess Waiver is purchased, responsibility for the deductible is reduced to US$250.  Upon return, the vehicle will be inspected,to determine if it has been returned in the same condition as it was delivered.

Tyre Policy

Tyre damage is not covered by the Excess Waiver.  Flat tyres are repaired free of charge ,however, if a tyre or rim has been damaged beyond repair, the client will be charged for the cost of replacement. It is therefore imperative that clients check the tyres carefully when the vehicle is delivered.

Credit Card Collision Coverage

Some credit card companies and internet sites offer collision coverage benefits.  As in many types of coverage there are limitations and clients should check carefully to verify the coverage they have.  If the client has purchased excess waiver from another source and has an accident during the rental period, he/she must pay for the damages incurred up to a maximum of US$1,500.  Following which we will supply the documentation required to claim from the company who provided the cover. Clients must have a valid credit card, so that we may authorize a security hold if deemed necessary.

The Excess Waiver is voided if the client has an accident and must be purchased again for the remainder of the rental period.

Payment Methods

We accept payment by International Debit cards,Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover Credit Cards.  Payment is also accepted by cash (US, Canadian, Sterling and Euros).  Credit card details are required for all methods of payment.
